What our members are saying

“I’m obsessed (in a good way). I rarely leave app reviews, but we are a few days into this app being live and I am obsessed. It’s so much fun and everything so many sewists have been missing from Instagram for a long time now. No algorithm, no ads, chronological feeds, hashtags and lots of sewing content and chat without the noise that Instagram brings. Just what the sewing community needed!”

@ohsewfearless

“Sewperb. How refreshingly normal and slow and kind and uncomplicated this app is. I am on day 3 and just can’t get enough of it. It feels so much healthier. My posts feel more work based than trying to bat off homophobia and hatred. Thank you. Please don’t EVER become like Instagram et all. Keep it beautiful and simple and most importantly, kind and loving and supportive.”

@karlmacraehessewhappy

“The app I didn’t know i needed. I’m new to sewing and was on instagram trying to find community that I could reach out to for advice. The thing is because of the algorithms no one would really see my posts. Sewciable isn’t like that. My posts show up in everyone’s feed who follows me and I’ve gotten tons of advice. I’ve only been on it a week and it’s already indispensable!”

@thisisme.sewing

“So happy this is here! It’s so nice to have a social media dedicated just to sewing. I’ve been so sick of algorithms and ads, and this platform is like a ray of sunshine! I love seeing everyone’s projects and getting inspired and sharing my creations. I hope this app stays the same, and I hope this community grows!”

@shale

“Sew much fun to connect with Makers all over the world without all the ‘interruptions’. Really like that all the tutorials are stored in one spot for easy access.”

@LeeAnne

“Sewciable is for makers! It’s the IG of old - but better. No algorithm, no ads, the chronological order we all love and miss, hashtags and links - this app will become an essential place for sewers and crafters to connect and get back that sense of community.”

@JustMade

“Sewciable is the platform that the online sewing community has been missing for years! I’ve so missed the days where sharing your sewing projects online was about community, making connections, learning, and not just about likes. Sewciable is bringing that back and I’ve loved reconnecting with familiar faces and having one place to keep up with sewing friends and what they’re up to and being inspired.”

@Peneloping

“I have never felt comfortable sharing my sewing adventures online as I only share with my family and friends who mostly wouldn’t be interested. But to have a platform dedicated to sewing is amazing! I’m very excited to be a part of the Sewciable community. I love that there are no ads or algorithms, just people sharing their skills and creations.”

@leahsta15

“This is a fun and easy way to interact with other sewists around the world! I love seeing what everyone is making and what patterns they are using. It’s fun to see my favorite sewing patterns are also favorites in other parts of the world! Who knew sewing helped to make the world more connected! Thank you for this fun and easy app!”

@Melyssa

“Sewciable has all the delight and none of the addictive aspects of common social media platforms. You are in control of what you see, your feed is chronological, and there are no sponsored posts. Looking at photos and reading captions is refreshing for my busy mind. It’s a calm place for me to hang out and connect with like-minded people. Congratulations to the Sewciable Team. This is a well thought out and executed App.”

@bloglessanna

“Honestly the best sewing app, no ads, no algorithm, just amazing makes and supportive makers.”

@Liz

“This app is every sewist’s dream - access to a community of fellow enthusiasts, filled with inspiration and encouragement.”

@NMoodie2026

“I am so excited to see the launch of Sewciable! Sewing is such a unique craft, it’s great to have a community where anyone can share their makes and tips, inspire, and help other makers. I look forward to watching the community grow!”

@MrsJDT

“Sewciable is such a great platform. It feels like what Instagram was 10 years ago, but just for sewing! I really like the interface and layout. It feels clean and the focus is on what people are sharing - multiple photos going down as opposed to across means looking, reading and liking are more intentional. I also love the tutorials tab and how easy it is to add a link to a post. It’s just a great app, I’m so impressed with what Meg has created.”

@Josiesews

“Sewciable reminds me of the good old days of social media! I love that there are no ads or algorithms - it’s just my curated feed in chronological order. I have loved connecting with new makers and seeing what people are creating.”

@teridodds

“I like how it’s supposed to be a place for positivity and to share, not a popularity contest. It’s clean and easy to use, and that’s why I like it. IG, TT, and FB are too complex, noisy, and just a turn-off (like going to the bar). Sewciable is a nice, quiet place to come to, like going to the library. You can browse and see what people are up to without feeling bad or being harassed to buy something, harassed by weird men in your DMs, or feeling scared someone is going to write a snarky or mean comment under your post.”

@lunassewingroom

“Sewciable is a fun way to connect to creative people in the sewing community without nonstop, targeted ads. It feels like a space for positivity and collaboration with others.”

@Teahouse_Studio

“This App is a great place to enjoy the creativity from makers around the world. I like that this App has a neighborhood feel to it- in sharing the process of creating beautiful things, the questions, the solutions, and simply giving positive feedback to each other. There are so many beautiful makers on this App and their creations are stunning! It’s a treat to see what others post and the interaction is very personable. I especially like the focus of the App; no ads, algorithms or junk to clutter up my viewing. Thank you so much for making this venue!”

@TracedWear

“Finally, THE app for us Sewciable creatures that need community but definitely don’t need unrelated ads and algorithms. Loved connecting with familiar sewers that I haven’t seen recently due to the IG algorithm so that’s been lovely. Love the profile colours and the ability to link to patterns, details, accounts etc so easily. Godsend!!! Absolutely the exact app us creatives have been looking for. Focus on creativity and community and not on advertising and useless algorithms that we don’t want and don’t need.”

@HouseE11even

“This is a fantastic app, a great place for makers to share with other makers. I love that it is a social media for the sewing community. It’s great to share things with likeminded people without the noise and bother that comes with general social media. It’s like Instagram from the good old days. I thoroughly recommend it.”

@Mary

“Sewciable is a sweet place all about sewing, where you can enjoy the cosy sewing community. It’s nice to have a place to go talking all things sewing and connect with sewists from all over the world.”

@charlotte_makes_a_lot

“Sewciable is a lot of fun to pop into when I have a spare moment and see what other sewists have been up to. The app is easy to navigate, uses hashtags, and even has a section where members can post tutorials. Best of all, there are no ads!”

@lindvanr

“My love of sewing continues to grow, but on other apps, I’m inundated with ads and videos that I’m not interested in. Sewciable lets me get back to the roots of sewing and the sewing community. I’m seeing makers I haven’t seen in awhile and learning new techniques without having to slog through paywalls or links”

@SewDiva

“The second I opened Sewciable I wanted to shout GOOOAL. They nailed it! There’s a chaos free connection that no longer exists on other social apps. It’s like visiting your friend’s sewing studio, favorite fabric store, wildest seam ripper story, and you walk away inspired instead of pressured. I can’t wait to see more faces here!”

@marcyharriell

“I’ve enjoyed the chance to try Sewciable from the get go. It’s feels both new and yet familiar but without the constant pestering ‘suggestions’ and annoying adverts! It’s definitely worth a try”

@Susanyoungsewing62

“I like Sewciable because of ease of use. Knowing that makers and other creative people will be the main users of this app gives me the freedom of putting my work out there and knowing I would receive constructive comments and/or feedback. I really like the Learn feature where one can view a tutorial without having to leave the app. I mostly appreciative of the ease of adding photos anytime before posting/sharing because with another social media app, this was not easy for me.”

@Smartty

“Sewciable is an inspiring community. I felt at home right away, and time spent on the app encourages me to create!”

@vinnie_toscadero

“The Sewciable app is a fun place to explore what’s new in the world of sewing without any ads. I can curate my own feed without an algorithm dictating what I see, hooray! I’m really enjoying a space that celebrates creativity without turning me into a product.”

@gingermakes

“I’m so happy to finally have a place to find inspiration, peaceful and quiet, no ads that suddenly blast music when you are trying to keep up with friends and family or find the perfect next project.”

@NordicWhale

“Using the Sewciable app is an inspirational and calm experience. It’s a great way to connect with other sewists and share your makes without the pressure and distraction of an algorithm and ads. I love that I can see what my friends have been posting in chronological order and not be distracted by ads and videos. The app feels intuitive to use and I love all of the features that are built in. For example, you can tag every post with multiple url’s which is so much easier than directing people to a link in bio.”

@sewdiypatterns

“I enjoy the focus on making and makers in Sewciable! It is well organized and reminds me of long ago social media.”

@Molkat

Questions?

How much does it cost?
After your first week free, Sewciable is just $1.99 USD/month. We charge a small amount so that you’re the customer, not the product. When social media is free, companies make money by selling your attention and data to advertisers - which leads to intrusive ads and manipulative algorithms designed to keep you scrolling, not to make you happy. That’s what ruined the other platforms. A small low-cost monthly membership fee is how we can keep the lights on, and guarantee our promises to you.
Can I have a private account?
All accounts are public. This keeps the community transparent and open. It’s a community for sharing and connecting, not hiding.
Are there DMs?
No direct messages. All conversations happen in the open through comments. This reduces toxicity and keeps things community-focused.
Can I use Sewciable on my tablet?
Yes, Sewciable has been designed to be enjoyed on phones and tablets alike.
Is there a web version?
Not yet. We’re focused on making the best possible native app experience first. This also makes it easier for us to protect app content from being scraped by AI on the web. The app is available on iOS and Android, and can be downloaded on phones, tablets and Macs as a native app.

Who made this app

Meg and Chris Nielsen together in a garden at sunset

Hi, we’re Meg and Chris Nielsen.

Meg is the designer behind Megan Nielsen Patterns and has been an active member and cheerleader of the online sewing community since 2008. Chris is the developer behind Bit State apps and never forgets to make Meg a delicious coffee every morning.

We’ve watched the online sewing community grow and thrive from the early days of sewing blogs and social media - and then slowly die, as online spaces became more toxic and algorithm-based and makers felt less welcome.

We love the sewing community so much - it is the reason Megan Nielsen Patterns exists, and we are passionate about the value of real community and everyday makers.

We want to bring back the feeling of connection that existed in the early days of the online sewing community. The community where everyone felt welcome and where we encouraged and lifted each other up. Where everyone was just as valuable, regardless of their follow count. Where we helped each other, learned from each other, and everyone felt comfortable sharing.

We made friends. We were inspired. We felt real connection. And we shared not for notoriety, but for the pure joy of our craft.

That is the dream and the goal behind Sewciable. We can’t wait to see you there, and hope it brings you as much joy as it has brought us, in making it for you.
